"Excuuuuse Meeeeeeeee" a tribute to Steve Martin

Here's my print for Gallery 1988's upcoming tribute show to Steve Martin. It's a three color, hand pulled screen print. It measures about 10.25" x 16" and has an edition of 35.

This was a lot of fun to work on. Not only is Mr. Martin one of my favorite actors but Parenthood is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. Although after re-watching it I can safely say that I didn't understand half the movie or the jokes when I was a kid. Especially grandmas innuendoes. Anyway, hopefully people get the reference as I know its not one of his most well known films.

The show opens Friday, June 9th and runs for about a month at Gallery 1988, Venice.

Here is my contribution to the upcoming g1988 show "Memes, a tribute to the internet's favorite creations". The show opens this friday at 7020 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90038. Its one of the more ridiculous show ideas in a while and I'm glad I could be a part of it. Its also g1988's 8th anniversary so its sure to be a good time. I had a lot of fun with this project. This handsome Raptor Jesus is a 4 color hand pulled screen print. Show runs for about a month and remember to hide your sin, he's learned to open doors.

This is my piece for the upcoming group show Empty Night Skies. Its is benefit for Bat Conservation International. All proceeds go to help com-bat (hehe) the spread of White Nose Syndrome in bats. Opening reception is friday, April 20th from 7-10pm at Grindcore Coffee House (1515 S. 4th St. Philadelphia, PA). Lots of great artists are involved. Here is the Facebook event for more info.

Zelda/Lotus Gig Poster

Here's the recent gig poster i did for the band lotus. Apparently, they often play a rendition of the Zelda theme song at the end of their shows. So naturally they asked me to do a Zelda themed gig poster. This project had three notable milestones for me. Firstly, it's the biggest print I've ever made. Secondly, its the most printing I've ever done for a single project (200 prints x 3 colors, YIKES)! And lastly, every aspect of this project was done in house (as in, IN my house). I built an exposure unit, bought a power washer and built myself a dark room in my basement. Surprisingly everything worked out great and I'm very happy with the prints.

These prints will be on sale February 17th during their show at the Congress Theatre in Chicago, IL.

Mouse man progression: Final

Sorry Folks but I ended up running into some trouble with the Mouse Man here. After having a lot of trouble with this guy, I figured I would just focus on finishing him and not worry about documenting the progress. Pro tip: you don't have the patience to let spray paint dry, DON'T USE SPAY PAINT! Anyhoo, he's done now and I think the end product came out pretty well. If you want to see him in person, he will be at Gallery 1988: Melrose (7020 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038) starting Januray 13th. The opening reception runs from 7-10pm.

Mouse man progression part 2

Spray painted base layer colors for each of the body pieces. Pro tip- black electrical tape is perfect for masking areas. It bends well to the contours of the vinyl and it peels up easily.

Mouse man progression part 1

This is a project I'm working on for the upcoming Adult Swim tribute show at Gallery1988. I'm doing a Dangerdoom inspired Qee. Someone mentioned to me that taking pictures of the progression might be a good idea. I agreed so here we are! Part 1, disassembly and sanding of the Qee (sorry Frank Kozik's Anar-qee, you were cheaper and easier to come by than a blank DIY qee). Pro tip-hit the vinyl toy with a hairdryer for a few minutes and the limbs pop right out.
